Scotland is so cold even the animals wear sweaters.

Obviously things were going too well. To remedy this we threw a large wrench into our plans by missing our flight to Amsterdam. There was a mix up in how long it would take us to get to the Prestwick Airport and we didn't get there in time. So we had to pay extra to get on a flight tomorrow morning. Sleeping in the airport might be marginally better than the cold tent we've been in for the last two nights. At least it's free.
We were all quite glad to be getting out of the UK. Scotland is beautiful no doubt, but with the US Dollar in the toilet, the exchange rate is a little better than 2:1 in favor of Great Britian. I am also not happy with being charged 20 pence to pee.
Princes Street in Edinburgh was really amazing. At first glance it is like a normal busy big city steet filled with overpriced stores and lots of people. Then you look to the left and there is a GIANT castle on a very large hill. Humans have occupied that hill since the bronze age. http://www.edinburgh-tattoo.co.uk/tattoo-experience/castlehist.html The surrounding streets are a lovely mess of curved streets with steep steps and buildings stacked side by side.
I have been trying to upload more pictures but I've been having problems doing so. The computers have been a little slow at the local libraries. When we hit Amsterdam we will try to find an internet cafe and get some more photos posted. Hopefully it will be a bit warmer too.

Heloo again. Is anyone even reading these? Home seems very far away. It's weird to be so cut off from the world we know. I can't believe I've gone without a cell phone for the last week. Well, as Angela said, we're stuck at the moment, but a good, hot meal tonight will make things seem better and tomorrow we'll be out of British Pound hell for good. Can't wait for that good 'ol Euro again. Unfortunately, forecasts are saying it'll rain a day or two in Amsterdam as well, but it looks to be at least a bit warmer. We won't have real fun in the sun kind of weather until Rome. Well, it's time to wander off into the unknown and waste a whole day doing nothing in a town we know nothing about. Later.

Heidi

I'm reading. Leave me alone.
